Frank’s RedHot & Cocoa Control

I feel like I’ve been writing on petty things lately, but I guess I cannot be heavy and soulful on a daily whim. So, let’s talk about the wonders of Frank’s cayenne pepper sauce. I discovered this stuff while making super easy buffalo chicken, but have realized it adds needed pizzazz to anything. I had been hooked on Sriracha sauce, but quit after reading sugar is it’s second ingredient. Frank’s RedHot is simply made from cayenne pepper, vinegar, salt and water.

Yeah, I’m trying to quit sugar. I’m sitting here drinking my black coffee on ice, pretending it’s tolerable. My taste buds are still in shock from sugar deprivation. I bought chopped dates as a healthy thing to grab when I’m having one of those rabid-Annie-ripping-through-the-kitchen nights. They’re delicious. I flipped the box to see why…added sugar, of course! I am being hounded by azucar. It’s got a tight hold on me. One sweet that’s proven to be healthful is cocoa, but I know I have no ration control, so I need to buy things pre-rationed. Ghiradelli must have consulted women who lack self control prior to making these brilliant squares. I once purchased the Pound Plus from Trader Joe’s and unabashedly broke off pieces of it until the wrapper was empty in three days. And then I pretended to be surprised when I realized the wrapper lay empty on my pantry’s top shelf (reserved for temptations). Oh, the psychological games I play with myself to prevent guilt! I deliberately put chocolate on the top shelf thinking it will be out of sight, out of mind. Instead, it beckons me and I pretend like I don’t know how much I’m grabbing since it’s “so high” up there. “Whoops, broke off a quarter pound of chocolate…definitely can’t put it back. Such a journey to get my hand up there!”

Chose this photo so you can see how obscenely large the bar is. But if you’re looking to binge on dark chocolate or have an ounce (or a pound!) of self-control, this stuff is beyond yummy.
